Background: The paperwork indicates that Gabby was picked up as a stray. She found herself in a rural Texas shelter and was about to be euthanized due to no space at the shelter. The shelter staff described Gabby as calm and said that she went out in a playgroup with two males and a female dog.

Gabby’s Foster Says: Gabby is spayed and current on her vet needs. Once out of her kennel, she listens well and walks well on a leash. She has a gorgeous brindle coat. Gabby is sweet and accepts being loved on. She has spent time in the yard with a large male dog and did well. Gabby has not been tested with cats and would probably not do well with them. I am going slow with introducing Gabby to other dogs because she presents as nervous and growls on occasion. Gabby absolutely LOVES toys. She found the toys in the yard and started carrying them around and took one back to her kennel. I gave her another toy and a ball, and she was so happy. Gabby is short and compact, only weighing in at 45 pounds. She is what I call a pocket pittie; however, she has large round boxer eyes. Gabby has a lot of barrier aggression. She will bite at the kennel when other dogs walk by; however, I can tell her to get her ball/toy, and she is able to calm down at times. Gabby has anxiety in the form of licking the kennel wires and slobbering. Once in the yard, she absolutely loves to play ball. She is also good around children. I would describe Gabby as reactive so having her around other animals would need to be closely supervised. Gabby may do ok with a calm submissive male; however, it may be better for her to be an only pet. She is going to need an experienced dog owner. Gabby is a special dog looking for her furever home.
